Overview

Why your views matter

Lewisham Council is undertaking a review of our current Youth Offer. Your views as parent/guardians are crucial to informing what a youth offer could look like in the future.  This will help us to better understand the strengths of the current service offer and inform how we shape youth services for our children and young people going forward.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your valuable input as we work to review our Youth service offer to better meet the needs and interests of young people in Lewisham.

What is the current Youth Offer?

The Council  currently commissions a Youth Offer through a contract with Youth First across the borough for children and young people aged 8-19 (up to 25 with Special Education Needs and Disabilities). Examples of youth work activities provided include sports, arts, crafts, culture, cooking, employment support, street-based support including mentoring. Services offered are open access and targeted.  Targeted services are street-based youth work and one to one support. Open access services are spread across five youth centres dotted around the Borough, delivered during two to three afternoon and evening sessions a week per centre.

Separate to Youth First, the Council also funds a range of services such as mentoring services and a supplementary school across the borough to deliver high-quality programmes and activities for young people.
