Overview

The Children with Complex Needs Service provides support to children and young people who have special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and are between the ages of 0 and 25 years old. We believe that children and young people with SEND deserve the best start in life and the best possible opportunities to learn, develop and play. We are committed to working together in partnership with our internal and external agencies, and with our children and young people and their families and carers, to make Lewisham a place where all children and young people enjoy a stimulating, healthy and safe childhood, exceed expectations, and have the highest aspirations for their future.

Why your views matter

The Children with Complex Needs Service has three priority areas for change and the voice of children and young people with SEND and their families is central to helping us achieve those changes. The 3 priorities of change are:

  • Children and young people (0-25yrs) with SEND and their families are informed and empowered to be more resilient and independent within their communities.
  • Children and young people with SEND who have been identified as requiring additional support across Health, Social Care and Education receive the right support at the right time in order to enable them to become as independent as possible.
  • Children and young people with SEND have the opportunity to be educated within Lewisham’s education provision and are provided with the right support to enable them to achieve their full potential.

We would like to find out from our service users how well they think we communicate and engage with them. We believe that good communication is the key to us achieving these changes and helping us to improve our service. We want to identify key areas of improvement through this survey and we will take the necessary steps to make those improvements based on what you tell us. The results from the survey will be gathered and analysed at the end of the 6 week period. A summary report for the Children with Complex Needs Service Manager will be written. We will feed back the results of the survey to you by uploading the report onto the consultation website.
