Gypsy and Traveller Site(s) Local Plan Preferred Site

Closed 12 Nov 2018

Opened 10 Sep 2018

Overview

Travellers are part of our diverse community in the Lewisham borough. As we do with all our residents, we have been looking at their housing needs.

We have found that the community needs at least six pitches in the borough up to 2031. This is because some traveller families currently live in traditional bricks and mortar homes but would prefer to live in a mobile home on a permanent pitch.

Having searched for sites across the borough, carrying out consultations on two potential sites in September/October 2016 and doing various studies, our preferred site for a new residential traveller site is at Pool Court, SE6.

This consultation is entirely ‘Optional’ and you do not need to participate unless you choose to. Your personal information will only be viewed by members of the Strategic Planning team at London Borough of Lewisham, and will not be shared with any third party.

By submitting your contact details to this consultation, you are consenting to be added to the Strategic Planning team's consultation data base, and may be contacted regarding future Strategic Planning consultations. The Strategic Planning database is retained and managed by the Strategic Planning team only, and we will not transfer any data to another territory outside of the EEA. We will hold this data for a maximum of five years, or until,  if you request to be removed from our consultation data base sooner.

At the end of the survey you will be asked to answer optional questions about your personal demographics including Age, Sex, Ethnicity, Disability, and Religion. Answering these questions is entirely optional.

If, at any point, you wish to be removed from our database, please contact planning.policy@lewisham.gov.uk

Why your views matter

We are seeking feedback on our Gypsy and Traveller Site(s) local plan consultation report. This is a draft local plan document that would allocate this land for a residential traveller site and set out revised design guidelines (taking account of earlier comments) on how best this site could be developed for this use. We are also seeking comments on the integrated impact assessment, which has helped us consider environmental and equality issues in identifying Pool Court as our preferred site.

Please read the following consultation documents (links directly below) and click the link to the online survey below to give us your views.
