Introduction

Proposal to designate a new Conservation Area in Lewisham Park

Lewisham Council has been working with the Lewisham Park Crescent Residents’ Association on a proposal to designate a new Conservation Area focused on Lewisham Park, the Memorial Gardens and the Victorian and Edwardian houses on the southern and eastern sides. Bredgar, Malling and Kemsley are included in the area.

The designation would recognise the special architectural and historic character of this distinctive part of the borough and bring some additional planning controls.  Alongside the designation,  a conservation area appraisal document would be adopted, and an Article 4 Direction would be introduced which removes certain permitted development rights from single family dwelling houses.   We are seeking views of residents, stakeholders, and interested members of the public on these proposals.
